Here are some images of the things that I have been finishing off this week. The first are of a German Fallschirmjager officer and trooper for Offensive miniatures. These were sculpted in a new putty that I am trying out which seems to be good to work with. Next up is a Riot Commander, also Offensive miniatures, sculpted in kneadatite green stuff. The last two are conversions, Offensive miniatures again, using the grey putty to sculpt new legs. The shield was sculpted in Milliput with putty details.

Wip pics of a secret agent/spy that I have started sculpting for a range of figures that I am going to be producing and selling myself under the category of Last Action Heroes. The idea is that the range will be loosely based on Tv and Film characters. This figure is a 60's secret agent who works with a partner. I expect to have the figure finished in the next day or so and will be starting work on his partner this week, which I will try and do as a stage by stage.

I have finally finished the Arabs for Blaze Away miniatures after what seems like a very long time. I really need to improve the time that I take to sculpt a miniature but they are worth the wait I think.

Next I am on with some more Spanish Napoleonics for Eagle figures and then I have another project which I can't disclose and I am also starting my own range of figures. This is something that I have been talking about doing for quite some time but I am finally getting round to it. I look forward to posting pics as they are completed.

The Spanish infantry command group for Eagle figures are finally finished, took a lot longer to complete than I had wished for with Christmas and all. I am pleased with these and I am looking forward to seeing them cast.

At the moment I am trying to finish off a couple of commissions that I have still. I'm working on a command group for the Spanish Infantry that I sculpted recently for Eagle figures pictured above. The figures and faces in particular are coming out quite nicely and I am really pleased with them. I am also working on some French Foreign Legion and Arabs for Blaze away miniatures.

If I get time I also have some ideas for some figures that I would like to produce for myself. I'm not sure how well they would sell but I'm fairly certain that I could at least make the production costs back. You have to take risks in this life to get anywhere.

Just added a new building to my Deadwood terrain range, it's a mining and assay office which based around the same design as the Dry good's store. Due to popular demand and a lot of inquiries I decided to make the building with a lift off roof. I always forget about figures when I put them inside buildings but at least the option is there. I am in the planning stages at the moment for the next building which is going to be a Sherrif's office/jailhouse.

I have been busy with these buildings for the last couple of weeks, I was hoping to sell them at the last wargames show in Stockton but unfortunately they didn't sell. It was an interesting day all the same though and I managed to catch up with a few old friends and associates.

From today I am starting my own range of figures, I have a few ideas that I would like to see made so I thought that I would give it a go and see what happens. I will hopefully be posting pics on here of the greens both as wip and finished pics, at least that's what I would like to try and do. Although my track record for posting isn't the most prolific.

A couple of 20mm Zombie females that I did recently, the one on the right is influenced by one of the zombies from the original night of the living dead, hence she isn't too zombified by this point. Although I would suggest that a nice gory paint job would do her justice.

After reading Soapy's latest post I thought it best that I should just say a quick note to show that I am still alive and fighting the good fight.

I also thought that I would take the opportunity to show you my worktable where I do most of my sculpting. As you can see it's kinda small and cramped but I like it that way as it's less space to cram up with crap.

I have been fairly busy working on a project with Steve of Little big men studios and Julian of Chiltern Miniatures. As far as I am aware it is a secret project so I can't say to much more about it until they decide to make the announcement, hence the lack of posts of greens over the last month or so. I do have some pics of some other greens that I have done recently though and I will begin posting them over the weekend.

Some more figures that I have been working on recently and have only just finished sculpting. Some skyclad Gaul fanatics which I found quite challenging to do, mostly because I am not accustomed to looking at naked blokes to check anatomy. And also, a couple of Gauls with captured Roman equipment, namely Helmet, Pilum, Lorica Segmentata and gladius.

This week the master metals turned up for the first of the figure range that I have been sculpting for a local company. I managed to grab one of the cleric to paint and I think that he turned out nice, he was actually very easy to paint if I do say so myself. The rest of the range should be back from the casters some time this week, and I can't wait to paint them too.

First off I have a pic of the unpainted metal for the Skinnie Leader of Slaves from Mongoose publishing. The green of this is further down the blog, I will be painting him up over the next few days. I picked him up from Forbidden Planet in Middlesbrough as Mongoose were too tight to send me one.

The next two pics are updates on the Easterlings, which are almost finished now, the armour is done and I just have the tabards and robes to pick out in a deep red and then basing. I hope to have these finished over the weekend and posted onto eBay on Sunday night.

Also, today I took a family trip to the Bradford Museum of Photography and I was impressed with what was there. We saw a short movie about the moon landings in the Imax cinema which was great and then went around the museum. The family enjoyed the trip as there was plenty to see and do, but I have to say the highlight for me was the Ray Harryhausen exhibition. Many thanks to Curtis for the heads up on a great day out.

Just finished painting these last night and I went to photograph them and the batteries in my camera were dead and needed recharging. Anyway, a charge overnight sorted that out and here they are. I am going to be selling these on eBay later today as soon as I can find my lightbox so I can get better photo's. As a side note, can anyone tell me how you get a title on your blogs as I can't find the option anywhere.

I've been away on my hols last week, camping in the Lake district. It was very hot and got sunburnt badly on the first day, but was still very relaxing. Computer has been down for a couple days as when I got back home the power supply decided to pack in. Anyway, everything is sorted now so I should be posting something new later on today.

I was just mucking about with a spare piece of brown stuff last night and I whipped this head up in about 30 minutes. I don't think it looks too bad considering it's only 6mm high. I quite often practice making faces which I think are the most important part of a miniature and I have several of these lying around. I will probably use it in a figure at a later date.

The Easterlings and Sicarius are coming along quite nicely. Easterlings have had their armour, boots and swords painted and need their clothing and details finishing. With Sicarius I am half way through the highlights on his armour and some of the detailing has been added.

A little late with this wip post than I intended but here he is after a couple days on an evening sculpting. hopefully he is recongnisable as the character that he is intended to be, and that is Blacksad the private detective. Written by Juan Diaz Canales and illustrated by Juanjo Guarnido, Blacksad is a beautifully realised graphic novel. The characters are all portrayed as various animals but what makes it especially nice is the facial expressions that the artist uses. Highly recommended if your not familiar with the character, check it out at all good comic book stores.

Here is some pics of the green that I sculpted of the Skinnie leader of Slaves for Mongoose publishing. He was sculpted in Kneadatite greenstuff over a 1mm wire frame. The Leader of Slaves is available to buy from Mongoose now. The height of this figure is 32mm from foot to eye.

At last I have got around to starting a new bust last night. I am going to show this one step by step and hopefully on a daily basis, work permitting. I am sculpting this out of Super Sculpey firm, which comes in a nice grey instead of the flesh of regular Super Sculpey, I find it easier to see the detail and smoothness of the sculpt which is a problem with the regular Sculpey. The putty is smoothed over a bolt wrapped in wire and thickened with tin foil which aids in the baking process later on. Next I need to concentrate on blocking out the major muscle groups to give the bust a nice bulk and definition.

With just under two weeks left to go of my full time employment I am finding it difficult to juggle any time to devote to sculpting. I have still managed to find the time to push ahead and I am now on the closing stages of completing my next batch of figures for Mongoose publishing. The Skinnie Brutes and Tawn riders are a new adition to their Skinnie army list. The figures are brutal savages from a feral world where only the strongest survive. I have enjoyed making these and in particular the Tawn, a large lizard like mount, has been very challenging but fun to boot. I can't post any pictures of the greens for these until they have been approved and previewed by Mongoose but as soon as I am able I will post some pics on here.

Welcome to my blog where I will show you upcoming work and past models.

I intend to show stage by stage pictures of models and figures that I am currently building where possible and licensing permitting.

All figures are sculpted by myself using green stuff kneadatite or super sculpey.

I have been sculpting for around eight years now and over this time I have sculpted figures for several companies including Gripping Beast, Curteys Miniatures, Eastern Front studios and Mongoose publishing.

Having made the decision this year to go freelance I am hoping to make it as a professional sculptor with a range of figures for sale myself.

Comments are much appreciated but please keep them constructive, I don't mind if you don't like what I do but at least let me know what it is that you don't like.
